Admission and Standards

Participants accepted for admission to this conference must maintain university standards while on campus. These include modesty in dress and conduct and abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, coffee, tea, and harmful drugs.

We are committed to providing a learning atmosphere that reasonably accommodates persons with disabilities who are otherwise qualified. At least two weeks before the start of the program, applicants with disabilities are invited to discuss the program content and available facilities with the program director.

Financial Aid

There are two options for financial aid. Please apply for only one.

1. Continuing Education Financial Aid

Limited, partial financial aid awards are available for those who desire to register for the conference but are financially unable to do so. Financial aid awards cover partial registration fees and once approved, will be applied as a discount when you register. You can request a financial aid application by emailing byulifeafterloss@byu.edu. Must be 18 years or older. Application for assistance is available to U.S. citizens and permanent U.S. residents.

The submission deadline is March 10, 2025, for the Spring 2024 conference. Financial aid recipients will be notified by email within 3–5 days after their completed application is received with instructions on how to register.

2. Single Parent Financial Aid Fund

The Maurine R. and Joseph A. Humphris Fund is intended to assist single parents in financial need to attend the BYU Life After Loss conference. Application for assistance is available to U.S. citizens and permanent U.S. residents.

Applications will be accepted from December 1, 2024 to March 1, 2025. A committee will review the applications that meet the fund criteria (listed below) and assist as many applicants as possible. Distribution amounts are determined by the minimum financial assistance applicants need to attend the program. Preference is given to patrons who have not previously received assistance. You can request a Single-Parent financial aid application by emailing byulifeafterloss@byu.edu. Must be 18 years or older.

Please be aware that although this single-parent fund allows us to award funds that would cover more than just the registration fee, the fund policy requires that we do not advance any funds but that we give you those funds upon your arrival at the conference (in check form) so you would have to use your own funds to register and travel to the program.

APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  1. Must currently be a single parent
  2. Guardian of one or more dependent children under 18
  3. Financial need

Note: Financial assistance for BYU Continuing Education programs may constitute taxable income. Please note that when total assistance received in a year is $600 or more it is required to report on a Form 1099-MISC. An adult applicant for financial assistance or the parent or guardian of a minor applicant for financial assistance may be required to complete a Form W-9 in order to receive financial assistance to allow proper reporting.

Refunds

A full refund (minus a $25 non-refundable processing fee) will be granted for all cancellations requested by March 13, 2026. No refunds will be given after this deadline.

To request a refund, please call the Registration Office at 801-422-8925, weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. mountain time, excluding holidays.
